moffeOS

The next big and super ambitious thing I'm trying to make.

A brand new operating system that will take ages to build, has zero point of existing and probably won't bring anything new to the table. But it's fun to learn new things, and that is what's most important!

History

The project started as a simple hobbyist project when I tried learning about compilers and compiler theory. It is heavily influenced by the writings on the OS Dev Wiki, the Apollo OS and Debian. Hence the resulting operating system is obviously heavily colored by that fact, but that doesn't matter.

Currently the system only supports the Cortex A72/A76 architectures, since I was initially building it for Raspberry PI 5. But in future releases it will also support the Ryzen and x86 architectures.

Darwin will probably never be supported, unless my Macbook Air M2 gets decommissioned. But I don't think that's likely, at least not any time soon (anno 2024).

Since the project is in it's infancy, we are not taking on new joiners at the moment.
